Welcome to Lanzarote ! The adventure begins the moment you step off the plane, exploring an island of volcanic landscapes, golden sand beaches, and charming villages. But before you set off to discover it all, it's time to plan your arrival. César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport (ACE), located just a few kilometers from Arrecife, offers various options for getting to your accommodation or starting your island adventure.
In this guide we tell you how the airport is organized, where to check arrival flights and what alternatives you have for getting around, including car rental, so you can start your vacation off on the right foot.
César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport has been named after the Lanzarote-born artist since 2019. Located in the Guacimeta area, near the coast, it is the island's main air gateway. Although its history dates back to the first aeronautical facilities in the 1930s, today it operates with modern terminals and a variety of services for travelers.
Over the years, the airport has grown alongside tourism in Lanzarote. The old terminal is part of the island's aeronautical heritage and houses a museum dedicated to that history. If you're interested in visiting, check the access conditions and official opening hours beforehand.
The main passenger terminal opened in the late 1990s. The complex has two terminals, each used for specific types of flights. Before heading to the airport, check which one is listed on your airline's information.

ACE receives domestic and international travelers year-round. Its activity is especially important for the island's tourism, but passenger figures change annually. For the most recent data, the most reliable source is Aena's official statistics .
Common destinations include airports on the Spanish mainland, other Canary Islands, and various European cities. The exact number of routes available depends on the season and the airlines. If you're still planning your trip, compare flights considering your arrival time and transportation to your accommodation.

Traffic figures help you understand the importance of the airport, but they don't tell you if your flight will arrive on time. If you're picking someone up or have a car reservation, check the real-time arrival status and use the airline's information in case of any issues.
Terminal 1 handles domestic (non-inter-island) and international flights, while Terminal 2 is used for flights between the Canary Islands. However, always confirm the terminal on your ticket or through official airport channels.
When you land, follow the signs to baggage claim and arrivals. Bus and taxi stops are signposted. If you booked a car, check your voucher for the pick-up location: not all companies have their counter in the same place.
The two terminals are close together, but if you need to transfer between them, it's best to follow the marked pedestrian route. Don't calculate connecting flights based solely on the distance between buildings: baggage, security checks, and boarding time also play a role.
At the airport, you'll find restaurants, shops, and services to enjoy while you wait for your flight. The selection may vary, and not all establishments are open at all times. Consult the Aena directory if you need a specific service before you arrive.
Terminal 2 has a smaller selection than the main terminal. If you have limited time between flights, check where you can buy water or food. For very early or late flights, it's not advisable to rely on all the shops being open.
The airport offers a Barrier-Free assistance service for passengers with reduced mobility or disabilities. Aena recommends requesting this service in advance through its official channels and also indicates the meeting points within the terminals.
Want to make the most of your trip to Lanzarote by exploring other Canary Islands? From the airport, you can find connections to destinations like Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and Fuerteventura, as well as flights to various cities on the Spanish mainland and other European destinations. However, routes and frequencies may vary depending on the season, so I recommend checking schedules and available options directly with the airline.
If you're traveling from another Spanish city, you can find direct flights to Lanzarote or itineraries with layovers at other Canary Island airports, especially Gran Canaria and Tenerife. Before booking, compare total travel time and make sure to allow enough time between flights if you have a connection. This will help you avoid unexpected problems and start your vacation with peace of mind.

Once you've collected your luggage, you can leave by bus, taxi, or rental car. The best option depends on where you're staying: Arrecife is close, but some tourist areas and towns in the north or south require longer journeys.
Intercity buses stop in the arrivals area. To get to Arrecife, you can take lines 22 or 23, depending on the day; line 161 connects to Puerto del Carmen, Puerto Calero, Yaiza, and Playa Blanca. Check the current timetables as frequencies may change on weekends and holidays.

In addition to the main lines, there may be extra services or specific departures at certain times. Before relying on a night connection, check the exact timetable on the Intercity Lanzarote website and confirm the stop corresponding to your terminal.
The ticket price depends on the route and destination. As fares are subject to change, we recommend checking the current price on the operator's website before leaving the airport, especially if you're traveling in a group and want to compare it with a taxi.
If your flight lands in the early hours of the morning, check which buses are still running and how you would get from the last stop to your accommodation. A cheap option ceases to be practical if it forces you to wait several hours or walk with luggage through an unfamiliar area.
You'll find official taxi ranks outside the terminals. Follow the signs and use authorized vehicles. Before getting in, tell them your destination and check the current fares or surcharges if you want to get an idea of the cost.
The final price depends on the route, schedule, and any applicable surcharges. Getting to Arrecife is not the same as traveling to Playa Blanca. For trips with several people and luggage, compare it with other options before deciding.
The LZ-2 road connects the airport area with Arrecife and the south of the island. If you have booked a car, follow the pick-up instructions on your voucher and check the drop-off point for the last day.
At DoYouSpain you can compare rental cars at Lanzarote Airport from different companies. Before choosing, check the office hours, insurance coverage, fuel policy, and required documentation.
If you're driving, Aena has official parking facilities for both terminals: P1 and P2. Check their website to find the parking lot for your flight and for access, height, and reservation requirements. Rates depend on the length of your stay.

Lanzarote is a fantastic island to explore by car. The distances allow you to combine beaches, villages, and volcanic landscapes in a single stay, although it's advisable to leave time to stop and explore. In our Lanzarote road trip itineraries, you'll find ideas for planning each day.
One of the most unique landscapes is in La Geria, where vineyards grow on volcanic soil. It's a good example of how the island has adapted its agriculture to the environment. If you plan to visit wineries, arrange who will drive afterward.
In the north, you can combine a visit to Órzola with the Mirador del Río viewpoint and other scenic spots. The roads offer beautiful views, but don't stop on shoulders where it's prohibited. Also, check the ferry schedules if you're planning to take La Graciosa .
If you have a week, we recommend spreading your visits out across different areas. Timanfaya National Park is a highlight (and a must-see, according to this writer), but it's advisable to check access conditions and potential waiting times, especially during peak season.
Jameos del Agua, Cueva de los Verdes, and Mirador del Río are other popular attractions. Before you go, check the opening hours and whether you need to buy tickets in advance. Some sites have limited capacity or tours with specific times.
If you want to visit different parts of the island, renting a car in Lanzarote is usually very practical. You can pick it up upon arrival and adjust it to the number of days you have available. At DoYouSpain, we help you compare prices and terms from different companies.
Our advice is to book in advance, especially during peak periods, and check your voucher before traveling. Double-check the driver's documentation, the deposit amount, and the drop-off location. This will help you avoid any surprises right before your return flight.
Yes, on weekends line 23 connects Arrecife with the airport and Playa Honda. Please confirm the timetable for your specific date on the official Intercity Lanzarote website before you travel.
Line 161 connects the airport with Puerto del Carmen, Puerto Calero, Yaiza, and Playa Blanca. Check the operator s schedule for stops and frequencies, as these may vary depending on the day and season.
Aena offers free Wi-Fi at the airport. Look for the official network indicated in the terminal and follow the connection instructions. If you have any problems, please ask airport staff.
You can request the Barrier-Free service through Aena's channels and your airline. Do so well in advance and specify what assistance you need so that it can be properly organized.
Yes, you can check and book official parking lots P1 and P2 on the Aena website. Select the corresponding terminal and check the conditions and rates before paying.
