Barcelona Airport Car Hire
Tourist info Barcelona car hire Spain
Barcelona is the capital of Cataluña and it is situated on a plain gently descending to the sea, wrapped in an amphitheatre of hills and mountains that keep its climate mild, protected from the north winds and tempered by the breeze off the Mediterranean. At the south end of the harbour rises its oldest landmark, a smooth-humped mountain called Monjouic, once key to the city's defence and now its pleasure dome and Olympic ring on the landward side, the highest peak in the Sierra de Collserola is Tibidabo, with its amusements and priceless views.
Barcelona international airport is El Prat de Llobregat, 12 km to the south. There are three terminals: A for international flights, B for domestic and some European flights and C for shuttle flights between Spain's major cities. There are different cash points in the airport as well as banks. You can find post office and a tourist office too. Tourist offices can be found in terminal A and B, both open between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.
Barcelona car hire is moderately cheaper than elsewhere in Europe, especially if you do it with DoYouSpain.com. You might get a worthwhile discount if you book ahead. To hire a car you need to be at least 21 and to have held a licence for at least a year. You will also need a credit card.
Barcelona takes its festivals seriously. Traditional events, especially the festes majors, are occasions for a much specialised battery of Catalan folklore and traditional music.
Barcelona tourist information points distribute some excellent detailed maps, transport maps, and little booklet with useful telephone numbers and addresses.
