Tourist Info

In the marine walk tourists can find the elevator that ascends until the upper part of the Castle, 166 meters over the sea level. Inside their wall three enclosures: the Revellin del Bon Repos from the XVIII century is the first one; in the following one, Felipe II Living room, the Watch's Tower, Weapons Hall and Santa Bárbara's old Hermitage. To finish the journey, in the highest area it's conserved the Rampart of the Englishmen, the Noble Room and the Governor's House (of the centuries XI - XIII). From this strength tourists can enjoy the best panoramics of Alicante city. But not everything is the Strength in this mountain, in the other face there's an open space dedicated to walk, decorated with mediterranean autochthonous flora, the Park of the Ereta. This park also created as a place of cultural encounter counts with shade areas, cafeteria, restaurant and also connects with the most typical neighborhood in Alicante, Santa Cruz.

The buildings conserved along the centuries are also enough reason to go for a walk in Alicante city. Their City council dates of the XVIII century, it's Baroque style and it is characterized, mainly, for the two lateral towers of 1772. As a curiosity, the first step of the main stairway is the Benchmark Zero, reference point from which the altitude is measured on the sea level in all Spain. And only five minutes walking from the City council, visitors can find Santa María's Church, the oldest in the city. Of Gothic style this temple rose on an old mosque and it holds important treasures like its Baroque Front, the Italian baptismal pile of white marble and the Gothic choir. And talking about temples, also in this area is located the San Nicolás Con-cathedral that was a hermitage in their origin.

The Asegurada Museum conserves an art collection of the XX century, in the Palacio Gravina has been settled the Museum of Fine arts Gravina, well-known as the MUBAG that keeps the main exponents in painting and sculpture of the Alicante art from the XVI century until the XX century. Lately, the Museum of the Blazes of Alicante has opened up, dedicated to the most folkloric fiestas in Alicante.
