The distance between Malaga and the rest of the Andalusian capitals and towns around it, makes possible to visit their monuments and familiarize with their history in a matter of a day. Without leaving the province of Malaga, Ronda and Antequera appear like two emblematic and memorable resting places on route, although both are worthy of a whole day's outing in their own right.

Car hire in Malaga is perfect to travel around all these places. For instance, in the Western Coast you can drive to Torremolinos which is just 12 kilometers from Malaga. Torremolinos is an example of a touristic city, in the center of town, Carihuela, formerly a fishermen's district, visitors can find modern hotels, shops, pubs and discotheques for every taste. Benalmadena and Estepona, a little further from Malaga (small romantic fishing villages). Fuengirola with it's fine sand and blue water beaches. In the Easter coast, Velez, situated in a typical Mediterranean landscape with olive and wine fields and Nerja, called by locals 'Balcony of Mediterranean Sea' for its beautiful view and its 3000 years old cave worth to visit.

A little more than two hours traveling time is all that is needed to reach the World Heritage cities of Cordoba, with its Mezquita or mosque and-Jewish quarter. Seville, with its Giralda, its cathedral and Santa Cruz district; Granada, with its Alhambra, Generalife and Albaycin district; Cadiz, the birthplace of flamenco, or Jerez, the hometown of Andalusian dressage and of the fortified wines that have made its name so famous throughout the world. Additionally, on the clearest days on the Costa del Sol a glance across the sea reveals just how close the North Africa coastline is.
